6 Ways to Reduce Stress and Stay Healthy Now

How to reduce stress and keep your body, mind & emotions healthy during these challenging times

While many of us follow the important rules of regularly and effectively washing our hands, getting adequate sleep, keeping our physical bodies well nurtured and hydrated during these challenging times, I’ve extended the same kind of care to my mind and emotions.

If you are looking for more ways to keep your body, mind and emotions healthy, you might want to explore some of the below tools that I’ve been effectively using.

1. REGULAR BREAKS TO CHECK-IN AND RESET

Just like keeping my hands clean, I take regular breaks during the day to observe my thoughts and emotions to identify any “psychological viruses” that might be disempowering me.

When I acknowledge that I’m experiencing stress, fear or anxiety, I practice simple heart-focused breathing techniques that help me reduce or neutralize the stress reaction, and feel calmer, more centered and being in charge of myself.

2. MEDITATION

Besides expanding my awareness to shift my thoughts and emotions in real time stressful situations, I also air my inner space by practicing meditation twice a day, allowing the wind to take any negative thoughts and projections that don’t benefit me. Instead, I set the intention to feel, in the present moment, the elevated emotions and feelings that I’ll experience in my best possible future.

3. NEWS TIME

To allow my mind and emotions to also have a healthy break during the day, I deliberately read the news online twice a day, carefully selecting credible news sources. This helps me avoid overloading myself with the energy of fear during the day but stay aware of all the important updates, so I can more effectively take the necessary measures and feel more confident.

4. DETOX FROM THE DAY

At the end of the day, I take several slow and deep breaths with the intention to let go of any toxic emotional energy, as if I’m being washed under a waterfall of white bright light. On each exhale, I allow that fluid light to take the dense energy away, such as feelings of separateness, sadness, apathy, frustration or worry.

5. DEVELOP RESILIENCE AND FLEXIBILITY

Aiming to keep my body, mind and emotions resilient and flexible to better adapt to the current circumstances, I exercise and practice Yoga and at home, which makes me feel both energized and relaxed.

6. UPLIFTING ACTIVITIES

In order to nurture my inner self, just like having healthy and nutritious meals, I also feed my body & soul by doing uplifting activities more often, such as connecting with the people that I love, watching fun videos and inspiring movies, listening to cheerful music, singing and dancing.

By deliberately doing activities that make me feel good, I also reset myself from any eventual stress reactions and regain perspective, which helps me take my power back to more effectively navigate these challenging times.
